"I Like Trees". Matt's Big Breakfast, Phoenix, Arizona USA
COS: Hi, how are you?
"I’m great! I’m climbing this tree!"
COS: I can tell. And, you’re doing a pretty good job of it too!
"Thanks. I like to climb trees."
COS: That’s really cool!
COS: What do you want to do when you’re a grown up?
"I think I’m going to climb trees. I’m a climber."
COS: I can’t argue with that at all.
I love how children see the world. Perhaps there are lessons to be learned...or should I say, unlearned here. I often wonder when many of us stopped looking at the world as a place full of magic and POSSIBILITIES, and began seeing it as a place where we could manage or control the PROBABILITIES. It's a compelling spot to begin asking ourselves some questions about life. What is it really all supposed to be about? Perhaps kids have it right in this respect. Maybe we "teach" it out of our children. Maybe it's supposed to be about living, versus managing, planning, and controlling. Perhaps we should remember to occasionally think like the child still in us. Perhaps we should dream, feel, smile, try everything we want, and have no fear.
